Eddie Jones is a retired Service Connected Disabled Veteran with 28 years of military service. Mr. Jones has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix and is currently attending Webster University for a Master’s in Procurement and Acquisition Management. Mr. Jones has 12 years in environmental, maritime safety and compliance and training and over 20 years of military personnel management experience. Mr. Jones has worked 4 years in training curriculum program implementation and 3 years of training program management. As a former member of the US Coast Guard, Mr. Jones has numerous citations for maritime law enforcement, emergency management, public safety and career development. Since retirement from the U.S. Coast Guard, Mr. Jones has provided consulting services and program management services for veteran training and employment programs for ITT Technical Institute, Linden Resources, Columbia Lighthouse for the Blind, VETS Group and the Warriors 4 Wireless program.
The Veterans Enterprise Training & Services Group (VETS Group) is a non-profit 501(c) 3, community-based organization, headquartered in Washington, D.C. We provide a holistic program for Veterans and their families to achieve Economic Empowerment through Education, Entrepreneurship, and Employment. Assistance with affordable housing, family strengthening, and health rehabilitation is also offered. The VETS Group conducts training seminars on Federal Procurement, Small Business Development; education in Financial Literacy: Credit Repair, Banking, Money Management and Identity Theft; and is now in the process of implementing an initiative to identify procurement opportunities for Veterans in the Airport Industry. Partnerships are being formed with large corporate enterprises to offer Veterans employment opportunities, business education, mentoring, technical assistance, growth capital, and access to international markets.
Joe Wynn, President
Serving the veterans community for 20 years; Joe serves as the Legislative Liaison for the National Association for Black Veterans (NABVETS). He was appointed to the Veterans Disability Benefits Commission by Leader Nancy Pelosi. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Armed Services and Veterans Affairs Committee for the NAACP; a member of the Mayor’s Veterans Advisory Board for the District of Columbia; and has received recognition awards for his advocacy for veterans from the Small Business Administration, the NAACP, VET-Force, Blacks in Government and the United Black Fund. To further assist veterans seeking to start or expand their own small businesses, Joe founded the Veterans Enterprise Training & Services Group (VETS Group), a nonprofit organization, offering small business and employment training, and supportive services for veterans interested in starting or expanding their own small businesses. He continues to serve as President and Chief Executive Officer. Joe continues to manage the VETS Group, a non-profit organization which he founded in 2004 to address the unmet needs of veterans seeking to start or expand their own small businesses. The VETS Group provides entrepreneurial education, federal procurement training, employment assistance, financial literacy and other supportive services primarily for veterans, people with disabilities and persons of limited means.
Rhonda Smith, Program Director
Ms. Rhonda Smith, is the owner and managing partner of Renaissance Solution – a firm that specializes in working with small to medium size businesses, to help identify and develop the operational and marketing strategies that will generate the most significant return on investment. Ms. Smith has spent the last 15 years refining her business acumen in both the Public and Private sectors. She brings a vast reserve of knowledge and expertise in re-shaping your business model to capitalize on both tactical and strategic initiatives. She employs a total solutions approach to doing business – ranging from business development, account management, and sourcing to recruiting. This approach serves to drive out mediocrity and systematically fosters best in class orientation. Her proactive, entrepreneurial approach to business, coupled with her results-oriented demeanor, provides a strong foundation for development of a business “center of excellence.” She has successfully coached managers, directors and senior executives at all levels of the organization in both individual and group settings. She employs a total solutions approach to doing business – ranging from project management, business development, account management, and recruiting. Rhonda is both an Army and Air Force Veteran.
