The VETS Group team had an opportunity to volunteer at the 2023 Techsgiving Summit held in Washington D.C. starting on 12/6/2023 through 12/8/2023. The VETS Group team was able to meet the Techsgiving team along with having an opportunity to network with other great attendees inside and outside of the Washington D.C. community. The Techsgiving Summit is an opportunity for individuals to network and build valuable relationships with other people in the IT industry. This event had 3 separate admissions categories; General Admissions, VIP, and Platinum admission. This event was not only a tech conference, but this event also provided a complimentary resume reviews for Platinum ticket holders including access to reserved conference seating, and priority access to the networking lounges and workshops. VIP ticket holders were able to access professional headshot pictures taken at the event along with access to after-hour events and 1 on 1 sessions with industry experts. For the individuals who purchased the General Admissions pass, these individuals were able to experience a great time and network along with access to the Career Expo area. The event held a Techsgiving Marketplace which was an area designated to a group of businesses from the DMV showcasing their talents within the community. Over the 3 days of experiencing this event, the workshop itinerary covered a wide range of discussions covering topics such as Gen-AI, tech career advice, embracing innovation in the government space, Tik-Tok for business, building strategic partnerships with corporate powerhouses, women of color in tech, and more.

The VETS Group team was able to experience the full cycle of seeing how such an event is set up from start to finish. From the beginning, seeing how the production is set up and how the stagehands crew takes down the production setup. Throughout this experience, the VETS Group team was able to see what it takes to be part of a team that hosted a large networking event that involved some highly recognized names in the IT industry as well as working as a team to keep the event running smoothly.

The Techsgiving team gave all volunteers an opportunity to attend the happy hour events and network with all attendees. The overall experience to attend a large tech conference like this was very fun and our VETS Group team was able to network with talented individuals that represented, cybersecurity, finance, telecommunications, clothing vendors, educational resource vendors, community government representatives, and more.
