EVENT
VETS Group presented at the Resource Symposium: Technology & AI, hosted by the Mayor's Office of Veterans Affairs
MARCH 26, 2026
On a hot spring day in the Nation’s Capital, VETS Group presented on the 11th floor of the Marion Barry Building at 441 4th Street NW.
The wonderful host Monica Waters, Veterans Benefit Program Specialist, started the event by welcoming everyone and provided us with the agenda. The first speaker, Alexandra Blake, MPH, Veterans Upward Bound, spoke about her company’s effort to provide eligible veterans and active duty servicemembers the necessary help and tools to enter a program of post-secondary education. The program also provides veterans who do not have a high school diploma, an opportunity to prepare for the General Educational Development test (GED).
Second to stand up and present at the event was none other than Mr. Joe Wyn himself, representing VETS Group. During this time he provided the attendees with pivotal information regarding VETS Group, why we exist and the current program offerings. Noting that we offer 16 programs in total but are currently highlighting the PMP, Cybersecurity and AWS certifications. Not forgetting to mention that we are going to start aggressively pushing our AI programs, as the world trends so heavily into artificial intelligence.
The third speaker at the event was, Yolanda Tate, Elevate 2 Wellness LLC. Yolanda provided a burst of energy and wanted to emphasize the importance of working with AI as opposed to running from it. Her company provides tools and resources to help you better use AI in your everyday life. Understanding that the people who learn the ins and outs of AI now will be further ahead than everyone else. Especially entrepreneurs — entrepreneurs can use AI to replace a ton of those mundane tasks that previously required human labor. Now is the time to learn everything you can about AI because it’s going to be our new normal. So, allow Elevate 2 Wellness LLC to make sure you’re well equipped. She works closely with us here at the Vets Group and is an amazing contact in the tech space.
And the last speaker, Adrian Sutton, Octo, assured us that he has the best job in the world. Octo provides older individuals with basic facts and insight about general technology tools. What’s an example of a strong password, what financial information to never share on the web, how to navigate wifi and more. They host programs all over the city (and even stoops, depending upon the weather) to make sure the older generation understands technology basics.
Overall, each speaker provided a unique set of resources to help improve your day to day in regards to technological advancement. We are in the future and our world is currently being run by technology so make sure you’re well equipped with the necessary tools.
